Percentage Staking Calculator — Proportional Betting (AUD)

Stake a fixed share of your current bank, so stakes grow on wins and shrink on losses.

Loading calculator…

Percentage staking risks the same fraction of your current bank every bet. As the bank grows, stakes grow with it; as it falls, stakes shrink — a built-in brake that makes ruin much harder.

Set a bank and a percentage, then play out a sequence. Watch the stake re-size after every result.

How it works

Because it compounds, percentage staking grows a winning method faster than level staking over a good run. Because stakes fall with the bank, a cold run does proportionally less damage than a flat stake would near the end.

The cost is volatility of stake size and slower, never-quite-zero recovery: you can’t go fully broke with strict percentage staking, but you can grind down a long way. Size the percentage to swings you can stomach.

stake = a fixed % of your CURRENT bank, recomputed every bet.

Worked example

Bank $1,000 · 2% of bank · odds $3.00
  • First stake $20 (2% of $1,000).
  • Win at $3.00 → bank $1,040, next stake $20.80.
  • Lose → bank falls, next stake shrinks with it.

FAQ

What is percentage staking?
Risking a fixed percentage of your current bankroll on each bet, so the stake rises and falls with your bank.
Can percentage staking bust?
Not to exactly zero — each stake is a fraction of what’s left — but a long losing run can still grind a bank down a long way. It self-protects, it doesn’t make you immune.
How does it relate to Kelly?
Kelly is percentage staking where the percentage is set by your edge and the odds. Flat percentage staking uses one chosen fraction regardless of edge.
